Congressman Fattah Announces Three AmeriCorps Grants for Philadelphia

Washington, DC – Three local nonprofit organizations are the beneficiaries of AmeriCorps grants totaling more than $3 million dollars.  Congressman Chaka Fattah (D-PA) made the announcement saying more than 360 AmeriCorps members will be supported by thegrants. 

The competition for grants was particularly stiff this year. According to AmeriCorps the funding was very tight and only themost exceptional programs received monies. The funds will be used for tutoring and mentoring students, providing health education to low-income communities and to elderly immigrants and refugees. Full Press Realease.

Hochendoner was recognized as a social entrepreneur over 60 who, in his encore careers, is using his experience and passion to make an extraordinary impact on society’s biggest challenges.
